Solar System By Lizzie.

The Stars and our Sun Define a star? Right here- A star is a fixed luminous point in the sky that is a large remote glowing body, like the Sun. There are many other stars in our solar system. Without our sun Earth would be an ice cube Stars are classified by their spectra (the elements that they absorb) and their temperature. We can see stars from Earth. A constellation is a group of stars forming a recognizable pattern like the Little Dipper. There are many different consolations in our Soar System.

Gravity Define Gravity? Right Here – Gravity is the force that attracts a body toward the center of Earth, or toward any other physical body having a mass. Gravity keeps the planets orbiting around the Sun and keeps us live a good happy life. Without gravity we be floating into space every time we jump. The amount of gravity the planet would have depends on its mass. If you go into space your mass doesn’t change but your weight does. Your weight depends on the gravity force, if you were on the moon, you would weigh less than you would on Earth.

Meteors and Comets Define Comet? Right Here- A comet is made out of dust and ice, kind of like a dirty snow ball. Comets orbit the Sun around the Kuiper Belt. When a comet comes close to the sun, a “tail” of gas and particles pointing away from the sun. Define Meteor? Right Here- A meteor is a small body of mater from outer space that enters the Earth’s atmosphere, appearing as a streak of light. What’s The Difference Between A Meteoroid, Meteor, and Meteorite? Right Here- A meteoroid is a small part of a comet, a meteor is a meteoroid that has survived the Earths atmosphere, and a meteorite is a meteoroid that burned up in Earths atmosphere.

Pluto DiameterTemperatureDistance From the Sun 1,474 (Mi)-380 (F)3.67 Billion Miles Pluto is 70% rock and 30% water ice. Pluto used to be a planet but in August, 2006 astronauts and scientist thought that Pluto didn’t defined the word “planet” good enough so they made Pluto a dwarf planet. Pluto is smaller than Earth’s moon. Pluto is also the second closes dwarf planet to the sun.

Mercury DiameterTemperatureDistance From the Sun 3,032 (Mi)801 (F)35.98 Million Miles Mercury is made from iron and a very thin layer of silicate (silicate is salt that contains oxygen and crystal). Mercury is the closes planet to the sun and the smallest planet in our Solar System.

Compare Contrast Inner planets are closer to the sun. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Outer planets are farther away from the sun. Pluto is a dwarf planet. Pluto was the farthest planet from the sun. Pluto and Mercury are small. They are both solids.

Technology Telescopes help humans because we get a closer look at space. They show us that Earth is the center of the universe. We use telescopes today to see space. Technology helps humans all the time.
