Marginal Mission Ours to Share 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

Ready for Take Off?

Two Wings of Missional Discipleship Wesleyan Spirituality Works of piety are disciplines we use to keep connected with God’s love: in prayer, scripture reading, communion, fasting or abstinence Works of mercy are disciplines we use to connect others with God’s love, as the Spirit reaches out through us: feeding the hungry, offering hospitality to strangers, visiting the sick, sharing our faith, and praying with people.

Scriptural Holiness ‘I continue to dream and pray about a revival of holiness in our day that moves forth in mission and creates authentic community in which each person can be unleashed through the empowerment of the Spirit to fulfil God's creational intentions.” John Wesley

Fuelling the Fire ‘It would be a mistake to think that insistence on the inner life could harm our energetic commitment to the kingdom and to justice. Far from diminishing the importance of acting for God, interior life lays its foundation and keeps it going.’ Father Raniero Cantalamessa

The Mission of the Church is God’s Mission Christ’s love is a centrifugal force sending us out! ‘Mission is about the margins. It is about looking over the edge of our securities and taking risks with God who is ever before us as well as with us. Mission depends upon worship and prayer in order that we may learn to see what is in front of our eyes.’ (John Thomson)

Robert Schnase: Risk-taking mission and service ‘God strengthens the Body of Christ through mission and service and God empowers the Body of Christ through witness.’ (p.83) In Lincoln, nationally or internationally. Indicator of the health of the church – what we were created to do. Risk-taking – out of your comfort zones and dependent upon God. Creates unity, mercy and social justice ministries.
