3. Meet Billy and his Dad. Billy was very excited because it was the school holidays.

4. Billy had packed his favourite bucket and spade so he could build lots of sandcastles. Dad loaded the car ready for the journey.

5. They left at 8am which was very early for Billy, but Dad said that it would be a long journey.

6. It was a long journey to the seaside so Billy and Dad played some eye spy games.

7. Billy was the first to spy the sea in the distance.

8. Billy and Dad arrived at the seaside at 10am. The sun was getting warmer and warmer as it got higher in the sky.

9. Dad told Billy to rub in some sun cream so he wouldn’t get burnt.

10. Billy and Dad decided to have a walk around the quay.

11. They came to a small shop that sold crab lines. Dad bought one crab line and one net so they could go crab fishing.

12. Billy and Dad sat on the edge of the quay and lowered the line in to the harbour sea.

13. After twenty minutes, Billy felt a tug on his line. He was very excited.

14. Billy had caught a very small crab. “Well done Billy!” Dad cheered. Billy knew that it was not a good idea to keep crabs out of the water for too long, so he put the little crab back into the water.

15. The two of them walked over to the beach. It was so beautiful with the sun glistening on the waves. Billy wanted to go for a swim.

16. Billy splashed and cheered in the waves. He could taste the salt from the sea. Billy loved to play in the sea.

17. When Billy became tired he decided to build a sandcastle. Dad relaxed in his deck chair while Billy concentrated very hard to build his best sandcastle yet.

18. “Chocolate please!” Billy replied. So the lady scooped a big load of ice cream in to the cone. The day was drawing in but there was still time for an ice cream before they went home. “What flavour would you like Billy?” asked Dad.

19. It was time to go home so Billy and Dad started walking back to the car. “Thank you for a wonderful day Dad.” Billy said tiredly. Dad smiled gently at Billy and patted him on the head as they walked back to the car.
