Process Plan or Process Router

Elements of a process plan Material Selection 6061T6 or it might require information traceable to the MFG. Machine Selection and Workholding Describes machine and fixturing Tooling Selection Will indicate the tool material, diameter and sizes Speed and Feed Will indicate the required speed and feed for the particular operation.

Sampling Plan States how many parts should be inspected from a given batch or during a given time frame. Sampling Group Is the number of parts that should be inspected. This sample of parts is a very good representation of all of the parts being produced. Inspection Plan This tells us what dimensions to inspect, what tools to use and what procedures to follow so that features can be inspected in a repeatable and reliable way. (figure 2.5.2 in the text) Setting up an inspection plan 1.Identify the critical and important dimensions (text page 150 top right) 2.Select measuring tools and procedures (see text figure 2.5.2)

Is this process “in control”? The X-bar chart graphs the average size, or mean size, of each sampling. X-Bar Charts

The R Chart plots the Range of each sampling.

Why plot the Average (mean) and the Range?
