4 Isaiah was the prophet to The Southern Kingdom of Judah Isaiah’s contemporaries: 1. Joel2. Micah

5 1. Isaiah is convicted (6:5a) – “Woe is me! for I am undone.” 2. Isaiah confesses (6:5b) – “I am a man of unclean lips.” 3. Isaiah is cleansed (6:6-7) – His “iniquity is taken away” and his sin is “purged” (atoned for).

6 4. Isaiah makes his commitment (6:8) – “Here am I; send me.” 5. Isaiah is commissioned (6:9a) – “Go, and tell this people.”

7 Isaiah 1:23 – The government was corrupt and did not care for the needy. Isaiah 5:20-23 – No absolute right or wrong; Excessive drinking; Taking of bribes; Isaiah 10:1-2 – Laws benefit the wealthy and unfairly oppress the poor.

8 Isaiah 29:15 – People think they are getting away with their sin and nobody knows. Isaiah 31:1 – They depended on military might rather than the Lord.

9 Isaiah 7:14 – He will be born of a virgin and will be called Immanuel. Isaiah 11:1 – He will be a descendant of Jesse.

10 Isaiah 50:6 – His back and face will be beaten. Isaiah 53:3 – He will be “despised and rejected.”

11 Isaiah 53:5 – He will be “wounded” and “bruised” for our sins. Isaiah 53:7 – He will not defend Himself. Isaiah 53:12 – He will die with criminals.
