Life Expectancy By Ben

Life expectancy summary Life expectancy is a frequently analyzed component of demographic data for the countries of the world. It represents the average life span of a newborn and is an indicator of the overall health of a country. Life expectancy can fall due to problems like famine, war, disease and poor health. Improvements in health and welfare increase life expectancy. The higher the life expectancy, the better shape a country is in. Life expectancy is a frequently analyzed component of demographic data for the countries of the world. It represents the average life span of a newborn and is an indicator of the overall health of a country. Life expectancy can fall due to problems like famine, war, disease and poor health. Improvements in health and welfare increase life expectancy. The higher the life expectancy, the better shape a country is in.

Highest Life Expectancy Number 3 3. France = 79.93 The French have a very good average life expectancy at 79.93 years. This is because France is a HIC (high income country). They have a good health care for service, and was voted the best health care system in the world by the world health care organisation in 1997. The service is also completely free for people with chronic diseases such as cancer and aids, which contributes to a high average life expectancy for the French.

Highest Life Expectancy Number 2 2. Japan = 81.25 Japan has the second highest life expectancy in the world. Japan has the 2 nd largest economy in the world, with many major industries such as banking, electronics, telecommunications and many more. The health care in Japan very good and is provided by national and local governments, helping to save lives and resulting in a higher life expectancy.

Highest Life Expectancy Number 1 1. Singapore = 81.71 Singapore has the highest life expectancy in the world with an average person is estimated to live to 81.71 years old. Singapore is the smallest country in south- east Asia with only around 4.5 million, consisting of 63 islands. They are also a HIC and this contributes to a good health care system, meaning a better life expectancy in this country.

Lowest Life Expectancy Number 3 3. Kenya = 48.93 Kenya has the 3 rd worst life expectancy in the world with48.93 years. The main reasons for this are that Kenya is a LIC and has a very high population of around 34.7 million people. It also has a very high birth rate, death rate and a high infant mortality rate. The health care in Kenya is also very poor.

Lowest Life Expectancy Number 2 Chad is a country in central Africa and has the 2 nd smallest life expectancy in the world of 47.52 years. Chad is an LIC and therefore has a very poor health system and this badly effects the life expectancy of this country as it is also badly effected by disease. The country's population is young an estimated 47.3% is under 15. 2. Chad = 47.52

Lowest Life Expectancy Number 1 Botswana is a country in southern Africa and has the lowest life expectancy in the world with 33.74 years. This is mainly due to the country being a LIC and having a terrible health care system and over the last few years Botswana has been hit very hard with the AIDS epidemic. Approximately 1 in 6 people living in Botswana have HIV. 1. Botswana = 33.74

Good or Bad ? It is obviously good to be top of the list when it comes to life expectancy like Singapore is. This shows that Singapore is a good country and has good health care services available for the public. They also have a very low infant mortality rate. Downsides to this are that there a lot of older dependant people there. Nearly 10% of the 4.5 million people population are aged 65 or over.

World life expectancy map This shows the main areas with the low life expectancy are places like Africa, and places with high life expectancy are places like USA and Europe.

Country Comparisons Countries that do consistently well over the course of all of the table are countries like France, Singapore and Japan. The patterns that emerge are that the countries that do consistently well in the majority of the categories are the high income countries (HIC). These top 3 countries all score highly on Infant mortality rate, Life Expectancy, death rate and they all have high rates of non – dependant people.

Country Comparisons The countries that perform consistently poorly across several of the most important columns on the table, are Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya and Chad. All four of these countries coming from Africa. All of the countries have also got the fact they are low income countries (LIC) in common. Also they all have high infant mortality and death rates

GDP and population comparison

Conclusion My conclusion is that the Higher the average life expectancy of a country the higher GDP. Life expectancy V GDP per catia
