2 The Ten Habits of a Caring Organization Mind Your Manners –Be prepared for meetings; distribute an agenda in advance. –Use email appropriately; respect the time of your colleagues. –Summarize meetings and action items for all. –Copy the person you mention in the email; inform sender if you forward their email to others. Be Present –Be on-time for meetings; be an active listener. –Respond to customers, partners, and colleagues in a timely manner. –Share ideas; give consideration to the ideas of others. Be positive –Recognize the work of others; encourage collaboration among staff. –Meet routinely with staff to encourage leadership development. –Encourage trust; build confidence; do not blame others. –Bring closure to topics by acknowledging the work of all.
