2 Women wore long tail dresses for special ocassions

3 In the 15th century women used high- waisted and tight skirts. A belt was used to make it even tightest. It had long sleeves.

4 In the second half of the century, the waist is placed in its natural place. The neckline was round or in peak. The skirt was smooth and gathered. The torso and the shirt was covered with a type of cloth.

5 A brial was a fashionable long dress. It had thick folds and embroidered edges.

6 Skirt or gonela with peak neckline. The body and skirt are completely smooth with short sleeves.

8 In the 16th century women were not allowed in the professions (such as doctors,lawyers and teachers) and female employment was often menial and low paid. However women were allowed to join some of the guilds

9 Some women worked spinning cloth, tailors, milliners, dyers, shoemakers, bakers, brewers and embroiderers. There were also washerwomen.

10 A very common job for women domestic servant. Other women were midwives.

11 Most women were housewives and they were kept very busy. Most men could not run a farm or a business without their wife's help.

12 She had to cook, wash the families clothes and clean the house. A housewife was also supposed to have some knowledge of medicine. Only the wealthy could afford a doctor

13 Rich women had to organize and supervise the servants. Also if her husband was away the woman usually ran the estate. In their spare time rich women liked to hunt deer and hares with dogs. They also liked hunting with falcons

14 There were notable women, writers, scholars, warriors, and business owners. The focus at courts became the arts: music, poetry, fashion and fine cuisine.
