1 Johnny Appleseed retold by William E. Evans Even as a boy John Chapman was a different sort of a person. He liked to spend long hours, sometimes days, in the woods near his Massachusetts home. The animals learned to trust Johnny and would eat from his hand. google images.com 22-2-12

2 Johnny Appleseed ● Johnny took his Bible into the woods and would read aloud to the animals. His step-mother never really missed him; she was too busy taking care of the ten other children. google images.com 22-2-12

3 Johnny Appleseed ● When he was just a young man, Johnny headed west on his own. He settled for a while and built himself a little farm. He missed the apple orchards that grew all over Massachusetts, google images.com 22-2-12
