Automotive Ethernet V1.1 3 Introduction ‣ Automotive Ethernet is the technology to link ECUs communication over the Ethernet protocol. ‣ Company like Broadcom, MICREL, Freescale, NXP, etc… are supplying semiconductor components to support an IP based network for ECUs. ‣ Automotive Ethernet is operating at 100Mbits/s and 1 Gbit/s data rates. ‣ The cabling architecture is based on an unshielded 2 wire system.
4
Automotive Ethernet V1.1 4 Applications Ethernet Networks are used for: ‣ Diagnostic (DoIP) ‣ Infotainment ‣ ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistant System)

Automotive Ethernet V1.1 5 Gateway function: Separate Networks Automotive Ethernet Network BroadR-Reach ECU BroadR-Reach / Gateway PC - IPEmotion XCPonEthernet (GigETH) 4-Wire Ethernet Network Logger with ETH input ‣ Gateway is separating the BroadR-Reach network from the 4 wire Ethernet Network. ‣ Logger: Signal based XCPonETH measurement based on AUTOSAR description files. ‣ IPEmotion: ETH measurement over Protocols PlugIn (Planing for V01.06.00). ECU

Automotive Ethernet V1.1 8 Conclusion ‣ Automotive Ethernet is in development. First vehicles like new BMW 7er series apply this technology. ‣ IPETRONIK is supporting signal based Automotive Ethernet measurements based on the XCPonETH Protocol on Loggers and in IPEmotion. ‣ At the moment we are not a ware of any customer who is performing Automotive Ethernet measurements from BroadR- Reach networks ‣ Direct measurement inside the BroadR-Rich network is not planned for IPETRONIK data loggers.
