What is an IPP- Individual Pathway Plan ? WEB-BASED EDUCATIONAL PORTFOLIO Starting in Grade 7, students track the growth and their career development competencies and plan for their future Schools are required to put in place a process to support students in Grades 7 through 12 in establishing, reviewing, and revising their IPP

MARKS ???? Show me the 98% What do Marks mean? Consider them Cosmetics. Instead consider the Curricular knowledge True meaning of 60% student missing 40% of the understanding to continue on to the next level.

How do I select Courses for next year? Consider what the Mark is telling you? Recommendation level 3 (70%) continue in the same level of course. If Mark is below or considerably above this consider a change in level. Academic/University Courses- Theoretical Applied/College Courses- Hands on (Application Based) Locally developed/Workplace Courses-Essential curriculum

Things to consider if aiming for a professional program These programs are highly competitive These programs consider well rounded students-marks are NOT the only thing considered. No entry directly into these programs from high school Usually require 2 to 4 year of undergraduate program at university It is extremely important that when student consider an undergraduate degree they consider a profession that is their 2 nd choice. Choose a program that is of interest which will help in attaining higher marks

Medicine Average salary of a doctor is $150,000 a year Every school of Medicine has a different requirement There are 6 different schools in Ontario: Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine (McMaster University), Northern Ontario School of Medicine, University of Ottawa, Queen’s University, University of Toronto, Schulich School of Medicine (Western University) MCAT is a requirement (consists of grade 12 Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English) Generally, the basic requirements are three years of any undergraduate study with various courses in life sciences and humanities Consider applying for QuARMS scholarship at Queen’s - winning students are guaranteed acceptance in a school of Medicine

Dentistry Average salary of a dentist is $140,000 a year Every school of Dentistry has a different requirement There are 2 different schools in Ontario: University of Toronto (Faculty of Dentistry) and The University of Western Ontario (School of Dentistry) Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) is a requirement Generally, three years of any undergraduate study with various courses in biochemistry, physiology, life sciences and humanities

Law Starting salary of a lawyer is about $66,000 a year that increases to 6 digits salaries after the first 5 years Every school of Law has a different requirement There are 7 different schools in Ontario: Lakehead University, Osgoode Hall Law School (York University), University of Ottawa, Queen’s University, University of Toronto, Western University, University of Windsor LSAT is a requirement Generally, three years of any undergraduate study, however almost all admitted students have completed a four-year degree. Most successful applicants present an “A” or higher on their best three full-time undergraduate years. New LAW Degree (6 years) program through Laurier University with the University of Sussex (UK) that does not require the LSAT

Pharmacy Average salary of a pharmacist is $110,000 a year Every school of Pharmacy has a different requirement There are 2 different schools in Ontario: University of Toronto and University of Waterloo PCAT is a requirement Generally, two years of undergraduate study is required, while completing courses such as university level introductory biology, introductory chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, calculus, statistics, biochemistry and humanities/social sciences. There will be an admission interview. Students must have taken SPH4U in high school.

Optometry Average salary of an optometrist is around $75,000 to $95,000 a year There is 1 school of Optometry in Ontario: University of Waterloo OAT is a requirement Requirement is a successful completion of at least 3 full years of university level science with specific course requirements, Optometry Admission Test, Admission Information Form, Optometrist and Character References. Minimum overall university average of 75%.

Chartered Professional Accounting The median annual Accountant salary in Ontario, is $50,313, as of April 26, 2016, with a range usually between $45,648-$56,131 not including bonus and benefit information and other factors that impact base pay. This could add up to over $100,000 The core academic qualification requirement consists of a 4-year, 120- academic-credit-hour university degree, or equivalent, in any discipline from any recognized degree-granting institutions, nationally and internationally; relevant experience gained during co-op work terms may qualify as prescribed practical experience, but not as academic requirement.
