You will have 15 minutes to work with your partner to help me solve my problem. Then you will have another 10 minutes to make a poster that shows your solution so that everyone else in the class can understand it. If you finish early, I will ask you to find your answer in a different way so take your time, check your work and make sure your poster is clear.

Day Two A

Yesterday, everyone worked on a problem that I had. What was it? Before we do anything more, we’re going to have a gallery walk. A gallery walk is where you go around and look at your teammate’s work. The gallery walk will help us learn about different strategies for solving the problem.

These are the rules of the gallery walk: 1.It is silent. 2.You will get some post-it’s. While you are walking around, you will write a note on a post-it about your teammate’s work. You will put the comment next to the poster. 3.You will have 10 min.

What are some things we might write as comments? I think your strategy is interesting. I’m trying to figure out why we have different answers. You explained your work really well. I can understand what you did. Your strategy is really great. What made you think of starting like that? Your way is so fast. I want to try that strategy next time. I don’t understand this step. I need more convincing.

Now it’s time to share! After people share we will ask: Who can explain the strategy they shared? How many other people did it this way? Was this strategy easier or harder than the others? How are the strategies related?

I will be walking around to see your work but I’m not going to help you. When we are done, I will choose a few people to talk about their process in front of the class.
