Feedback  Local Authorities and Colleges  Subject specialists and professional associations  Learner engagement  CARG/QDT/SWGs  CfE Liaison Team  Have your say

Key Points across Courses  Builds on principles and practices guidance and relevant level 4 experiences and outcomes from Mathematics and Numeracy  Follows the design principles agreed by CfE Management Board and SQA’s Qualification Committee  Outcomes are broad based leaving flexibility for combining or integrating assessment  Hierarchical development of skills

Key Points : Mathematics  Outcomes in Units are skills based and focus on operational and reasoning skills  Evidence of the operational skills is required in each Unit – algebraic, geometric, numerical, statistical, trigonometric, calculus (as appropriate)  Added Value Unit is assessed by a two part test  Mathematics at National 5 assessed by two question papers  Mathematics Units at National 5 can contribute to the Course at National 4 as long as learners have also achieved the Numeracy and Added Value Units  Mathematics Units can be used to achieve the Lifeskills Mathematics Course at National 3

Key Points : Lifeskills Mathematics  Develops confidence and independence in being able to handle information and mathematical tasks in personal life and in the workplace  Motivates and challenges learners by enabling them to think through real-life situations involving mathematics  Includes the Numeracy Unit at all levels  Uses a skills based structure for Units – financial, statistical, measurement, geometric (as appropriate)  Evidence for Units to be drawn from skill areas  Added Value Unit is assessed by a two part test  Lifeskills Mathematics at National 5 assessed by two question papers

What’s different?  Additional Course at SCQF levels 4 and 5  Mathematics qualifications contain a Unit in Numeracy at SCQF levels 3, 4 and 5 (at level 5 in Lifeskills Maths only)  Units are more skills focused – includes application of knowledge and understanding  Outcomes are broad-based leaving flexibility for combining or integrating assessment when appropriate  Numeracy Unit can be used as a freestanding Unit at each level and is flexible enough to be delivered and evidence in a wide variety of contexts
