15 WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA) Increases individuals with disabilities’ access to high-quality workforce services to prepare them for competitive integrated employment. Focuses youth services on out-of-school youth (75% Out-of-School Youth funds and 25% In-School Youth funds).

16 WIOA ALSO… Promotes career pathways and sector partnerships to increase employment in in-demand industries and occupations. Emphasizes: Engaging employers to align training with needed skills & match employers with qualified workers. Training that leads to industry-recognized post-secondary credentials.

17 Disability Employment Initiative: Employment Navigators: Staff at two WorkSource sites in King County Increase employment and self-sufficiency for persons with disabilities:  Links to employers.  Facilitating access to supports and services that will enable transitions to employment. 19 TICKET TO WORK (TTW)  Provides Social Security beneficiaries with disabilities the choices, opportunities and supports needed to stay employed, increase earnings and eventually become self-sufficient, whenever possible  WDC is an Employment Network provider A SOCIAL SECURITY PROGRAM (SSI)

20 SUBSTANCE ABUSE DISORDER EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM  Funded through King County  Participants are referred through one of five different mental health providers  Employment and Retention services

21 PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH King County Youth Consortium –Re-Engaging High School dropouts, ages 16-21 –Education, training and employment services –Eligible students: Low-income or documented disability –Provides services such as:  Alternative secondary school options  Job readiness training  Job placement  Educational and career planning  Leadership development

37 State Needs Projects Center for Change in Transition Services (CCTS) CCTS provides secondary transition training and technical support to districts, and Educational Service Districts, that serve students who have an Individual Education Program and are in need of transition services. eLearning for Educators eLearning for Educators provides statewide access to affordable online courses designed to support educators in serving students with disabilities. Special Education Support Center Provides current information and best practices through statewide training and technical assistance to families, educators, and organizations in order to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Special Education Technology Center (SETC) Provides training, consultation, technology loans and resource information to help school districts and families implement assistive technology (AT) interventions in addressing the special learning needs of children with disabilities. Washington Sensory Disability Services (WSDS) Supports individuals aged birth to 21 who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or deaf-blind, by providing training and other resources to service providers and families.
