MISSION and VISION The Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children was established in June 2015 as an operating non-profit to continue Beau Biden’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable among us, children who have fallen victim to to abuse and neglect. We believe that no child should be threatened by a predator-either an adult or a peer. We believe that child abuse can be prevented through effectively educating adults and children, developing the next generation of child welfare professionals and strengthening child protection laws around the country.

Beau Biden Fellowship at NAAG The Beau Biden Fellowship is an opportunity for state attorneys working in the area of child protection, child abuse, and/or child exploitation to address policy, legislative and legal issues on a national level, through research, writing and working hands-on with national experts. In its inaugural year the Fellowship will be offered for a three month period - September, 2016 through November, 2016. The Beau Biden Foundation pays for housing and a travel allowance, while the State commits to continuing the Fellow’s salary.

Stewards of Children® In 2010, Beau Biden, along with partners Prevent Child Abuse Delaware and the YMCA of Delaware, brought the Stewards of Children® training program, developed by Darkness to Light, to Delaware. Beau pledged to train 5% of Delaware’s population (35,000 adults) in the Stewards of Children® program. The program is a 2 hour facilitator led or online program which teaches adults to prevent, respond and react responsibly to child sex abuse. The evidence-informed program focuses on the 5 Steps to Protecting Our Children ™ and is brought locally into communities by volunteer facilitators. To date, over one million adults nationwide have been trained, including over 20,000 in Delaware.

NetSmartz Workshops for Students, Parents and Educators The Beau Biden Foundation has proudly partnered with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) to bring their NetSmartz workshops into Delaware’s schools and communities. One of Beau’s favorite things to do Attorney General was to go into schools and talk with kids about online safety, good digital citizenship and cyber-bullying. The need is great, and the Beau Biden Foundation proudly continues his work.

Safe to Compete Safe to Compete is a program the Beau Biden Foundation administers jointly with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware. The program insures funded background checks in compliance with the Beau Biden Child Protection Act, conducts training for children, parents, and volunteers on bullying, identification of child victims of abuse and exploitation, and mandatory reporting of suspected perpetrators. The Foundation sponsors, in select clubs, the teen violence prevention program Teens Inspired To Act Now (TITAN). And works in the community and with the Clubs to create Child ID kits for every child at the Boys & Girls Clubs, and for every family that wants to kit.
