3. Meet Mo Mo Farah is a multiple award winning athlete who has won several medals while representing Great Britain. In this project, I am going to talk to you about his life as a child, and how he adapted to living in England.

4. Mohammed Muktar Jama Farah was born in Somalia in 1983. He spent his early years as a child in Djibouti along with his twin brother Hassan and 4 other siblings. In the early 90s, Somalia was a war-torn country. Mo’s father, fearing for the safety of his family, migrated to England as a asylum seeker. However, once he arrived, he realised that he could only support half his family. Mo’s parents had to make a difficult decision to separate the children. Mo was taken to England while his twin stayed back in Djibouti at only the age of 8. Mo’s childhood

5. When he started school, Mo Farah barely even spoke a word of English. His favourite subject by far was being on the sports field. Mo lived and breathed football, but his P.E coach knew he had a special talent in his athletics. In 1996, Farah entered the English schools, cross- country run, and he finished ninth. Then, the following year, Farah finished 1 st of five English school titles. Settling in to England

6. After growing up, Mo Farah discovered his special talent in running and started to practice it. In fact, he practiced so much that he started to be the lead track athlete for Great Britain. He won various Olympic medals and nobody can forget the time that Mo won the double gold medals for the 5000m and 10000m run in the 2012 Olympics. So, after hardly even speaking a word of English when he came there, Mo Farah became an inspiration for millions of kids around the world, and going through the hard times, he became a world class, award- winning runner in the Olympics for Great Britain. A cheeky reporter asked whether that glorious Olympic 10,000 metres gold medal would have meant more if it had come for the country of his birth, Somalia, Mo Farrah replied “Not at all, mate. This is my country and since I was eight years old this is where I grew up. This is where I started life. This is where I went to uni. This is where the people I know are, this is my country and when I put on my Great Britain vest I'm proud, very proud, that it's my country.” Fabulous Farah
