Slope-Intercept Form Stuff you already know:

Graph a line using Slope-Intercept Form First - Plot 3 points on a graph Use the slope (rise over run) to plot the second point Use the slope (rise over run) to plot the third point Using a straight edge, draw a straight line from edge-to-edge through the points

How many points do you need to draw a straight line? You need a starting point to draw your line. The SLOPE will help you find the other 2 points you will need

Using a STRAIGHT EDGE, draw a straight line through ALL 3 points, and extend your line to the edges of the graph

 The three points should all line up on a STRAIGHT LINE.  Do not bend the line to make it fit your points. (That’s why you use a straight edge!)  If all 3 points don’t lie on the STRAIGHT line, start over.  One or more of your points are incorrect.  THIS IS WHY YOU MUST USE A STRAIGHT EDGE TO GRAPH LINEAR EQUATIONS.

Using a STRAIGHT EDGE, draw a straight line through ALL 3 points, and extend your line to the edges of the graph

Use the slope (rise over run) to plot the second point Use the slope (rise over run) to plot the third point Using a STRAIGHT EDGE, draw a straight line through ALL 3 points, and extend your line to the edges of the graph NOTICE THE SLOPE IS NEGATIVE

Go to Page 110 Do this on your own…… Did you notice that the slope is NEGATIVE?
