www.jci.cc www.ncjaycees.org Facebook Create a Fan Page, not a user. Create events and link to them from the Fan Page. Spotlight members and announce big things like new jobs, promotions, etc. Keep photos and content fresh. Announce membership drives and member benefits. Promote local sponsors on the page or local deals. Welcome new members and wish current members happy birthday.

www.jci.cc www.ncjaycees.org Meetup.com Start a Meetup group for local young professionals. Many people use Meetup when moving to a near area to find and make friends. This can be a great venue to promote your chapter. The fee is $12 per month and provides a method for people to see your calendar and register for events.

www.jci.cc www.ncjaycees.org LinkedIn Start a networking group online for your members. Engage the group with discussions and post links for upcoming events. You can list this as an added benefit of joining your chapter.

www.jci.cc www.ncjaycees.org Blogs Start a chapter blog to talk about events, leadership opportunities, and spotlight members. This can also be used to promote chapter or event sponsors. To engage with the local community, write about things going on and talk about issues

www.jci.cc www.ncjaycees.org Online Press Coverage Make a list of all the local media outlets. –Call the news desk and ask who you can email press releases to in their department. –You will be amazed at how much coverage this can generate. Make friends with the reporters and invite them to join the Jaycees at local events. If someone knows you and you’ve built a relationship, they are more likely to help get your story in print.

www.jci.cc www.ncjaycees.org Community Calendars Always submit to every local calendar you can find online. –These are almost always approved. –Often time, reporters look through the calendars for story ideas too. Include a link to your website.

www.jci.cc www.ncjaycees.org It's All About Perception Well, when God gives you lemons... you invite a bunch of apples, oranges, bananas and grapes out to the fruit bowl to hide the lemons. People want to come hang out with attractive people that have similar interests to themselves. Think about the image of the organization, your chapter, your state and even yourself and how others interpret that. How we present ourselves to the public in the name of the Jaycees has a major impact.

www.jci.cc www.ncjaycees.org Need to Change the Perception? Invite friends to meetings and projects, even if they never intend to join. Do joint projects with other organizations. Grab one or two enthusiastic new members in your group and stop by a networking or social function of another organization
