17. SKIATHOS THE TOWN OF SKIATHOS: Skiathos’ Town is the island's only settlement. It is built on the southeast tip of the island in a bay that separates into two parts of the island Bourtzi.It is a new settlement, built in 1829-1830 on the location of the ancient city on the seashore. The ancient settlement was founded in 800 BC.In modern Skiathos, the houses are simple and small,built alongside the narrow streets without having a regular layout except for a few places in the city.
