1. OF MICE AND MEN JOHN STEINBECK

2. John was born on February 27, 1902 in California. He was an American author of twenty seven books including the novella “Of Mice And Men”. He was of German, English, and Irish descent. Steinbeck has sold his realist novel The Grapes of Wrath in over 14 million copies. He passed away on December 20, 1968 in New York, due to a heart attack.

3. HIS CHILDHOOD Steinbeck who grew up with three sisters, had a happy childhood for the most part. He was very shy, but smart. John decided to become a writer at the age of 14, often locking himself in his bedroom to write poems and stories.

4. SCHOOL After graduating from high school in 1919, Steinbeck enrolled at Stanford University to study English Literature. Though he enjoyed his English classes, Steinbeck found college culture pretentious as well as phony. For six years he studied at Stanford, leaving campus frequently to take odd jobs in farms, factories or ranches. In 1925, he left for good. He never received a college degree, though he always spoke fondly of Stanford.
