Guadeloupe CultureGram

Place  When you enter Guadeloupe, if you look to the left you will see the beautiful roman catholic church called Basse-Terre Cathedral, Guadeloupe is 95% Roman Catholic. Music and dance are well liked here especially in the traditional celebration of Carnival. They are majorly influenced by African, French and Indian cultures with there clothes that are bright and colorful and they wear lots of jewelry. If you go to la pointe de la Grande Vigie, the sand is very fine and soft against your toes. The waters are very blue and the dolphins will swim along with you. Karukera means Island of Beautiful Waters, and that's what Guadeloupe is! Their architecture is very colorful, sometimes tall, and usually close together.

Location  Guadeloupe is a fascinating archipelago of islands, with every island giving travelers something different while receiving its amazing Franco-Caribbean culture. The two main islands look like wings of a butterfly. Guadeloupe has nine inhabited islands. North of Guadeloupe is Dominica, and South of Guadeloupe is Montserrat. The absolute location of Guadeloupe is Basse-Terre. Guadeloupe is in the Lesser Antilles and is also southeast of the United States. West of Guadeloupe is the Caribbean Sea, and to the East is the Atlantic Ocean.

Human/Environment Interaction If you travel to Guadeloupe, you will see many ways that the environment interacts with the people. There are a few older fishermen who were able to escape Hurricane Hugo. They'll tell you about all the difficult things they had to do in 1989 to achieve that feat. However, there's so much rain there, that it'll almost always feel like a Hurricane just hit. There are nine months of the wet season. It ends in December but the wettest month is September when it rains about 23 days of the month!! But there are also ways that the humans interact with the environment. They built the Dams Dumanoir and Moreau to supply water for irrigation. And some people have to ride the Riviere Salee, (which splits the larger and smaller islands) to get to their work. Speaking of work, a surprising amount of people work in the major industries of fishing and agriculture. It's only 8% of all people.

Movement The country of Guadeloupe is an archipelago full of life and culture. As you walk down the small, brick streets you see faces of many different cultures and ethnicity. Tourism is what helps the economy of Guadeloupe. When you continue to walk around these islands you see banana trees, sugar fields, and people working and creating rum. These people are getting ready to export these goods to countries around the world. But, they also receive goods like fuels, vehicles, and clothing. Most of their goods that they receive are from France. The reason that France sends them the most goods is because France is the country that colonized Guadeloupe. They settled on this island when Christopher Columbus landed on it in 1493 and became the first European to land there. Guadeloupe is a department of France.

Guadalupe is home to beautiful islands, sandy beaches and breathtaking sights. Here you can be sure to find many sorts of wild life on this French island. Guadalupe is a warm and humid climate which is great for all the exotic plants and wild life. in Guadalupe you are given the opportunity to go face to face to the grate white sharks of the islands by diving in a cage in full water gear. Guadalupe is home to many nationalities such as mulatto making up 90% Caucasian is 5% where east Indian, Lebanese Chinese are at most only 4%. If the nationalities are varied you can imagine all the food that can be consumed on your unforgettable stay. Like any other place there is a life expectancy, for males it is 74.8 years for the females it is 80.97. The tallest point of the leeward islands is not actually on Guadalupe but on the island of Basse-Terre. The point is called Soufriere, and it reaches 1,484 m. Guadalupe is a part of the wondrous Lee ward Islands, where your dream vacation awaits. Region
