4 According to SchoolDigger.com, Lampeter-Strasburg School District ranks 24th out of 458 school districts in Pennsylvania.

5 Lampeter-Strasburg High School earned a spot on the Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Roll for student participation and achievement on Advanced Placement Exams.

6 U.S. News & World Report annually releases its Best High Schools issue where high schools are ranked based upon student achievement scores using state standardized test results, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate scores. For 2013, Lampeter- Strasburg High School was ranked 44th in the state (out of 687 public high schools, including charter and magnet schools) and 1,417th nationally (out of 21,035.) The High School earned the magazine’s National Silver Medal, which makes it one of 168 schools in PA to win a Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal. Only 7% of the high schools nationwide were given the Silver Medal. (2% were given Gold.)

7 Developed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the PA School Performance Profile is an online resource designed to provide information and resources on school quality for public schools across the Commonwealth.

9 Three Questions…Table Facilitator and “Secretary” Be respectful of everyone’s opinion. Respond to the question on the table. Each question will be given 15 minutes for discussion. Speak from your own experiences instead of generalizing. Use “I” instead of “they,” “we,” or “you.” Focus on ideas, not persons. Everyone is to have a chance to speak. We will first go around the table individually for each person to give a quick, initial response (20 seconds), then we will open it up for discussion. Our purpose is not to reach consensus, so it is okay that some of the important points appear to be contradictory, as long as we agree they are important points.

After hearing how the State of Pennsylvania is now rating schools (and seeing where our schools fall within the rating system), what is your opinion of the following areas as they relate to the Lampeter- Strasburg School District:  How well are we communicating the status of our District and schools?  What additional methods do you feel the District should consider to communicate information to our stakeholders?  From an academic perspective, what do you feel (if anything) Lampeter-Strasburg School District should do differently due to this rating system?
