Full Text! - The World’s Most Epic News Source Since An Epoch Ago When considering two characters studied thus far in class, find the similarities and differences of the characters in the following categories: Ethics, Wisdom of Action, and Motivation. After viewing these categories would you say that the two characters share the same archetype? Why or why not? Two characters we learned about in this class were Piggy from Lord of the Flies and Pip from Great Expectations. They both have many similarities but they also have some differences. They have similarities and differences in Ethics, Wisdom if Action, and Motivation. First, Piggy and Pip have similarities in ethics because they both work very hard. They get stuff done and knocked out as soon as possible with as much care as possible. A n example from Lord of the Flies is that Piggy always worked hard to keep the island right so that everyone was safe and no one was hurt. An example from Great Expectations is that when Pip needed to get the prisoner food and a file so he could get out of the cuffs and be energized, he tried his best and got it done. He was very belligerent in what he did. Secondly, Piggy and Pip have differences in Wisdom of Action. They are both very smart but the handle things differently. Piggy is the kind of guy that will think about everything before he does it while Pip will just jump right into something not even thinking. Piggy is very cautious and thinks before he acts. Pip on the other hand is just a go-getter, he will do anything in a heartbeat. Next, we have Motivation. Piggy and Pip and both very motivated and they are always ready for what will come next. They are not afraid to stand up for themselves, and they will try their hardest to do what needs to be done. Piggy is very motivated in anything he does, as well as Pip, they are always up for a challenge. To conclude, Pip and Piggy have many similarities and differences. They are both unique in many ways. Without these characters in the stories there would be no story, they are basically the backbone of the story.
