1. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: ANIMATION COURSE IN BOURNEMOUTH UNIVERSITY SUBMITTED BY : SAMPURNA BHOL 11BBT0030

2. I chose Animation because I was interested in animation movies ever since I was a kid. My interest in animation grew more as years passed. I also became familiar with different types of animation art that exist. There are so many factors I like about this course. It is mostly about observing people and day to day life, and there are millions of ways to make things appear more interesting than real in animation and action can always speak more than words. To put it simply, animation is like giving life to characters from our own perspective. Walt Disney & Hayao Miyazaki are two people who have inspired me a lot in this field. Both of them had a life like animation style. While Disney brought all kinds of tales to a simple and realistic platform, Miyazaki came up with splendid fresh concepts with an addition of fantasy, still with a very down to earth and simple animation style. Drawing inspiration from these great artists, I got the idea of defining tales from one’s perspective.

3. I have learned a lot from my work experiences as much as I did from my Multimedia and Animation course. VIT University has given us a good opportunity to be a part of several authentic clubs and chapters. Working for clubs and chapters of different fields was indeed a splendid experience. Designing for the NGOs as well as for both technical and non technical chapters was indeed enlightening. Doing such creative works made me realize the meaning of what the great Chinese philosopher Confucius had said – “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life “. I learned a lot from this creative work. My practical skills were improved and I learned how to handle things under pressure. My creativity was also developed and helped handling the urgent situations. These clubs and chapters helped immensely to become more analytical and creative in art.

4. Apart from the clubs and chapters it was quite an experience coordinating events and workshops and also volunteering for various events. Being the Design Head of the Creativity Club in the university was also a unique experience. Working for both the technical and cultural fests of the University was a totally different work from the normal events. Coordinating events and workshops helped me improve my management, leadership and multitasking skills. Doing volunteer work inside and outside the University was both meaningful and joyous. Before applying for the course, I researched the net elaborately also made enquiries with several experts. I found out that Bournemouth University is one of the top universities in the world and also best for courses related to Animation. The syllabus is also up to my expectations and I believe it is the right university for me.

5. By attending the course in Bournemouth University, I hope that I can acquire excellent practical and theoretical experience and knowledge in the area of animation arts. My aspiration is to become an animation artist with creativity and originality and to make really meaningful contribution to the world of animation.
