Sedimentary rocks can form in deep ocean basins, low-lying coastal deltas, river channels, and floodplains, even in basins between mountains.

 Metamorphic rocks are form by heat and pressure  The texture or mineral composition of a rock can change when its surroundings change.

 Igneous rocks are form from:  Temperature  Pressure  Composition

Magma is the hot liquid that forms when rock partially or completely melts. The minerals a rocks is made of determine the composition of the rock. Texture of rock is determined by the sizes, shapes, and positions of the grains of which it is made.

 Intrusive-when magma cools beneath the earth’s surface  Extrusive- forms on the earth’s surface.

 The most noticeable feature of sedimentary rocks is its strata.  The most characteristic feature of a sedimentary rock is stratification.

 Foliated-metamorphic rock consists of minerals that are aligned and look almost like pages in book.  Nonfoliated-metamorphic rocks does not appear to have any regular pattern.

 Get ready to sing! Sing along.
