17. Service Manager FAQs Q. I want to deploy Service Manager 2010; what should I buy? A. The Service Manager 2010 licensing model requires a management server software (the application used to manage clients and servers) license and a management license (ML) for each managed operating systems environment (OSE). Service Manager 2010 licensing components are: Management Server Software: A license for the Service Manager 2010 management server software, which comes either with SQL 2008 Technology or without, is available on a per instance basis. Before you run any instance of the server software under a software license, you must assign that license to one of your servers. That server is the licensed server for that particular license. Server Management: A Service Manager 2010 Server ML must be acquired for each of the server OSEs managed by Service Manager. The Service Manager 2010 Server ML is available standalone and as a part of the Server Management Suites. A Server ML, in the Service Manager model, captures scenarios where Service Manager capabilities are being applied to a Server OSE.Server Management Suites Client Management: A Service Manager 2010 Client ML must be acquired for the client OSEs managed by Service Manager.
