3 Adverbs tell us how an action (verb) is being done. An adverb describes the verb (and sometimes modify adjectives or other adverbs.) quickly Superman flew quickly. Quickly is the adverb.

4 How do you tell which word is an adverb? It’s super easy! The dog barked loudly. 2 questions. What did the dog do? Barked (Verb) How did it do it? Loudly (adverb)

5 Adverbs in English It is really easy to spot an adverb in English as most of them end in ‘ly’ Quickly Loudly Hurriedly Noisily Quietly

6 Adverbs in Spanish It is just as easy to spot them in Spanish as they tend to end in ‘mente’. normalmente seriamente sabrosamente

7 How to form adverbs in Spanish 1.Start with the adjective. 2.Spell it in the feminine way. 3.Add ‘mente’ on the end. 1. perfect= adjective = perfecto. 2.perfecta 3.perfectamente and there you have ‘perfectly’ in Spanish Piece of cake!!!

13 If there is an accent in the adjective, you must keep the accent in the adverb fácil fácil fácilmente

14 If there is no feminine form, just add “mente”. felizmente

16 Some adverbs don’t follow the “mente” rule

17 Adverbs with “mente” usually follow the verb. María dibuja maravillosamente. María draws marvelously. Adverbs that modify an adjective or another adverb go before the word they modify. Luisa juega muy bien el softbol. Luisa plays softball very well.

18 There are a couple more which are used frequently but do not follow the pattern We cannot say ‘I play good.’ We say ‘I play well’ ‘well’ is the adverb ‘good’ is the adjective What is the word for ‘good’ in Spanish? bueno To make the adverb ‘well’ we change it to bien Toco bien… I play well
