1 Housing LIN update East Region Network Meeting 5 th May 2011

2 Housing LIN from April 2011 Independent – no longer part of DH National Housing LIN hosted by Elderly Accommodation council – Retains “branding” – Jeremy Porteus director – National voice for ECH and supported living options for older and vulnerable people – Manages membership database and contact – Provides revamped national website – regional micro-sites – www.housinglin.org.ukwww.housinglin.org.uk – Supports activity of regional LINs – Endorsement from Adass, JRF, NHF and CIH

3 New and Imminent Resources Housing and Ageing Population: The Extra Care Solution – Tim Brown, De Montfort University Everyone needs a home – Housing Forum report Due soon: – Case studies – Buckshaw village private ECH, handyperson services – Factsheets – on vacancy chains, latest planning issues in ECH – Briefings – emerging health and social care landscape – Viewpoint on volunteering, co-production and mutual support in ECH E-news will continue – next one due out early June

4 Regional LINs Both to – act as a channel for cascading national learning & information – and to identify and share local good practice “Regional champions” and steering groups At least two network meetings p.a. plus additional activities as – membership and steering group determine – resourcing permits Close collaboration with other groups – e.g. NHF Need for support from our members in kind if not financially – e.g. venues for meetings

5 Role of Regional Champions To convene the network meetings To build up links within the region To co-ordinate any additional regional activities In addition, my own vision for the region: – To provide some expertise and signposting - within limits – To increase cross-sector engagement and understanding regionally – To improve the inclusion of housing and housing- related options at a macro and micro level – e.g. in meeting the needs of people with dementia

6 Priorities for network meetings Some from before: – Personalisation – Mental health? Changing financial, policy and regulatory framework? What else? Anything else you would particularly like to see us doing or commissioning in the East?
