4 PS Hardware Test Planning There will be a coordination meeting every day during the test period in building 354/ 1-001 at 08:45. Any request for modifications to the schedule will be treated then.

5 PS Tunnel Access Conditions As from the 6/February the Inflector Zone will be closed and the Access requirements will be re- instated as established before the Christmas break. Namely “Habilitation Electrique” A previously prepared list of names of people requiring access. The key distribution for PS tunnel access will re-start as from the 10/February, for the start of the tunnel patrol.

6 Ring Clean-up For many years equipment from past operating modes have been littering the PS Straight Sections. We have taken advantage of the long shutdown and a radiation cool machine to remove this equipment.

7 Removed 7 Sextupoles Types 601 and 602. From SS 02, 15, 37, 52, 64, 65, 87.

8 Removed 2 Quadrupole Pick-ups. from SS 03 & 04. Replaced with standard aperture vacuum chambers.

9 Removed 200MHz Cavity from SS 08. Replaced with standard aperture vacuum chamber.

10 Removed 2 Octupoles From SS 20 OCT circuit, used for CNGS extraction development.

11 Removed 3 Wigglers From SS 39 and 41. Replaced with standard aperture vacuum chambers.

12 Removed 3 Auxiliary Dipoles DV68 from SS 68 DHZ73 from SS 73 DNH99 from SS 99

13 PS Ring Modification The Octupole ODE Circuit has been reduced from 8 Octupoles to 6 by the removal of 2 magnets from SS 02 and SS 20 Installed 2 new Sextupoles in SS 03 for continued CNGS extraction development

14 PS Modification BSW16 (Bump16) All 4 Auxiliary Dipoles in SS 12, 14, 20, 22 have been exchanged for the 205 type wide aperture dipole. This is an attempt to improve the closing of the Bump16 and to facilitate the installation of wider aperture vacuum chambers.

15 PS Modification For LEIR to PS Ion Injection Installed new bump BSW26 and Septum 26. Made up of 2 Auxiliary Dipoles type 206 in SS 22 & 30 and the Septum in SS26. The dipoles are to be installed this week and the Septum is foreseen for week 10.

16 PS Modification Bumper BSW31 The Auxiliary Dipole in SS31 has been changed from a type 205 to type 210.

17 PS Modification The two beam dumps in SS 47 and 48 have been completely rebuilt and are due for re- installation. Dump 48 in week 8 Dump 47 in week 10.

18 PS Modification The Beam Profile Monitors have been recalibrated in SS 54, 64, 75, 85.

19 PS Modification Re-installed the RF Feedback Kicker in SS 97.

20 PS Modification Main Magnets 25 Units equipped with new Excitation Coils and Pole Face Windings. Units#17, 83, 77, 25, 71, 91, 94, 3, 35, 45, 64, 93, 89, 44, 84, 2, 7, 63, 61, 97, 100, 37, 9, 42, 15. An incredible sustained effort by many people. A sincere thanks to all concerned.

21 PS Modification Survey TS/SU The position of all 100 main magnets were measured at the beginning of this long shutdown. They have re-aligned the 25 revised magnets. Adjusted the position of 22 to remove bumps. Are now re-surveying the entire 100 magnets to see if any further adjustments are needed. They have re-aligned approximately 10 SS tables. This is in the order of 250 measurement tasks.

22 PS Modifications Survey TS/SU There remains: Approximately 50 SS vacuum chambers to be measured and adjusted in height. To measure and make any necessary adjustments to the Auxiliary Magnets. To establish the offset calibration of all the Beam Position Monitors.

23 TT2 Modifications There have been 4 quadrupoles added to the TT2 line. These are: QDE163Inside the PS Inflector Zone. QDE207, QDE213 and QDE217 in TT2. Re-cabled to be powered separately are QDE210 and QDE215. These are all to be tested and polarity checked during the PS hardware test period.

24 Conclusion We still have a lot to do but we should be ready for the hardware test period starting the 13 February. The hardware test period is effectively five weeks long. If all goes well it should be sufficient. The two weeks safety margin we hope to be sufficiently long for solving any problems.

Today we look in good shape Tomorrow? I wish I knew!
