3 GM AHSN Clinical Priorities Scope of challenge: Any device that addresses the challenge. We are particularly interested and priority will be given to devices that: Reduce social isolation within the ‘usual place of residence’ for the patient. This may be at home, in the community or a care home setting. and Address isolation caused by one or more of the following conditions; dementia; mental health problems; learning difficulties; cognitive impairment (e.g. post stroke); and vascular disease. Other conditions and disease areas may be considered The call does not include technologies for data mining / handling big data or fundamental research. 4 GM AHSN Selection Criteria The aims of the Technology Innovation Challenge are: To support innovation pipeline at earliest stage (Industry and Wealth ‘gear’ - investment for innovation) To support engagement of academic, NHS and industry as partners in innovation (Industry and Wealth ‘gear’ – culture for innovation) Ultimately, to deliver patient benefit Its key principles for project funding are: Inventive, novel, innovative application of “academic/technological” expertise Relates clearly and appropriately to NHS clinical/patient/public health and wellbeing unmet need Recognises the commercialisation requirements to get a technology solution to market The TIC award will make a recognisable difference to the development of a solution and its delivery into the market place for patient benefit

5 GM AHSN Selection Criteria CRITERIA on which applications will be reviewed (for applicants): A. Evidence/Strength of academic partner (eg track record in area of application, links to other partners, location i.e. GM AHSN based) B. Evidence/Strength of NHS partner (as above) C. Evidence/Strength of Industry partner (as above) (Lead applicant can be any type of partner) D. Technology (e.g. evidence of novelty, innovation, and suitable applicability as a solution to the unmet need) E. Project Delivery and follow on (e.g. process, milestones, people to deliver, track record in similar types of projects,) F. Financials (clear and full breakdown of costs, identification of any leveraged funding and follow on funding to support project [to market] if successful)

6 GM AHSN TIC Timeline Outline Submission Deadline: 10 January 2016 Invitation to submit full proposal Full Research Proposal Deadline: 14 February 2016 Awards Panel 23 February 2016 Project Ends latest 31 December 2016 8 Month project maximum award £30,000 Key dates
