Innovative Design Educational Kits

Concepts Geometry & Spatial Understanding Number Sense & Place Value Number Operations Measurement Patterning and Data Handling Introduction to Algebra Math Workshop

Workshop Format Activity Based Learning of Concepts Groups of 4 or 5 max Doubts to be cleared immediately. Everyone in the group should participate 1 lunch break and 1 tea break

Why do we need Math Manipulative ? What are Math Manipulatives ? A math manipulative is an object which is designed so that a learner can perceive a mathematical concept by using it. The use of manipulatives enables students to explore concepts at the First - concrete level of understanding and they then Pictorial - representation of the same on paper Abstract - children will devise strategies and apply algorithms to solve problems when given only the expression.

The Math Kit Covers all topics of Primary school math- Spatial Sense. Numbers, Number operations, Place value, Fractions, Decimals, Measurements, Geometry and Data Handling. Can be used to teach multiple concepts to help children in associative learning across grade levels. Can be used by children to explore concepts on their own with a little guidance. Strong enough to withstand repeated use by children.

Number Sense Colour Counters & Tiles Associate Numbers to Quantity Activity : Place a set of counters and associate it with the flash cards. Now, Show the Flash card and ask children to represent the quantity. Do for all numbers from 1 to 20.

Grouping On the Rekenrek show children how to group 20 counters, each group consists of 5 counters. How many groups are there ?

Number Line Represent Numbers from 1 to 20 on the number line Shows children location of a number on the number line.

Square Grid Represent Numbers from 1 to 20 on the square grid, Many arrangements for a single number. Shows children that each number can be represented in many ways.

Addition Fact Repeat the activity For all numbers from 1 to 20 Use various colour counters and Unifix cubes. You can teach all addition facts table 1 to 10 using counters and unifix cubes.

Addition Fact Repeat the activity For all numbers from 1 to 20 Use various colour counters and Unifix cubes. You can teach all addition facts table 1 to 10 using counters and unifix cubes.

Simple Addition & Subtraction Teaching children that Adding is combining 2 quantities. Subtraction : Taking away from a single quantity.

Number Line Jump counting in 5s and 10s from 1 to 100 Children can repeat it like a poem Do the jump counting forwards and backwards.

Number Line Counting forward and backwards with numbers till 20

Number Line Counting forward and backwards with numbers till 20

Classroom activity Finding patterns Finding doubles Finding Facts

Ordering Numbers Arrangement of Numbers in Order

Comparing Numbers Matching the 2 quantities by pairing each tile in the quantity.

Comparing Numbers Make pairs of the quantity of cubes If every cube has a pair the original set of cubes is an even number Else its odd

Patterns in the Chart Identify Odd and Even numbers

BREAK

Addition & Subtraction

Place Value 10 yellow cubes = 1 blue rod Arrange them to see the equality of 10 ones = 1 ten

Simple Addition and Subtraction

3 Digit Number Representation

What’s the number ?

Use Base 10 Blocks Abacus and Place Value strips

When you have more than 9 yellow cubes replace 10 of them with one blue rod.

When you don’t have enough to subtract from borrow from the higher number and re-grouping

Regrouping 10 ones = 1 ten 10 tens = 1 hundred 10 hundreds = 1 thousand
