7 How IBM Worklight and WebSphere Portal Work Together Worklight makes it easy to enable multi-channel web applications to interact with the device and device delivery channels  The Worklight shell is a thin layer of native client code on the device that handles things like authentication, security, application launch, etc. and can be tailored to the specific needs of an organization or business  The shell serves to launch the web content (the real content of the application) WebSphere Portal can aggregate portlets that include mark up that exploits Worklight native services along with other portlets  To do this, the Worklight shell is delivered in its standard way, and points to the Portal managed web sites  The Worklight shell can also be packaged into a deliverable that can be published in an app store or deployed via MDM if needed The result is that the full Portal multi-channel web site management capabilities extended to include native device services 7
