2 Quality Assurance Programme
14-Jan-16 Context Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister on 2nd October 2014 focuses on ‘promoting cleanliness in Public Spaces’ Kayakalp- Clean Hospital Award for Public Health Facilities Launched by Union Health Minister on 15th May 2015

3 Objectives of Kayakalp Initiative
To promote cleanliness, hygiene and Infection Control Practices To incentivize public healthcare facilities that show exemplary performance in cleanliness and infection control. To inculcate a culture of ongoing assessment to sustain the same.

4 Kayakalp-Award Scheme
Kayakalp - Clean Hospital Award for Public Health Facilities Launched on 15th of May 2015 by GOI to promote cleanliness in Public Health Facilities. National level orientation of State level officers was done on 23rd June 2015 at New Delhi. Following this under the chairmanship of MD all ACMO-NHM, Div. PM & DPM were oriented on 18th July 2015. Under the chairmanship of PS-MH & FW all CMOs, CMSs, were oriented about the scheme on 1st August 2015. The scheme was rolled out in all 157 District level Hospitals.

6 Criteria of the Award Scheme
Cash Award for Hospital securing 1stposition - Rs Lac. Cash Award for Hospital securing 2nd position-Rs Lac. All other hospitals scoring more than 70% Rs.3.00 Lac. The best Hospital will be awarded at the National Level. There is an Award Committee at the State level under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary-MH & FW The Award Committee at the district level is chaired by the District Magistrate.

Hospital upkeep Sanitation & Hygiene Waste Management Hygiene promotions Infection Control Support Services.

8 Contd… According to the GOI guidelines and pre-defined checklists, internal assessment of the hospitals was done by the Quality Team of the facility. In the mean time Senior Faculty Members from SGPGI, KGMU, UNICEF, TSU and Div. PMs, DPMs were trained for External Assessment. 34 Hospitals scoring more than 70% were recommended by District level Award Committee for external assessment to State QA Unit . A 3 member external assessors team was sent to all 34 hospitals for assessment.
