4. Barack Obama was born on August 4,1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii

5. Childhood Barack enjoyed spending time on the beach,fishing and bodysurfing He was a really good student. He went to an expensive private school, even though his family didn’t have much money to pay for the school.

6. His College years In 1979,after he finished high school, he went to Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. There he started to learn his African roots,and decided to use his African name (Barry). After two years in Los Angeles,he moved to Columbia University in New York City. He studied Politics there After college he moved to Chicago to help poor people in his city. At work,he met a lawyer named Michelle Robinson.they worked together in a big law firm.

8. Barack and michelle have two daughters :Sasha (9 years) and Malia ( 12 years). Malia and Sasha lived in Chicago their whole life,even when their father was working in Washington as a senator. They play soccer and go to school like regular kids.

9. In 2004,Barack gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention.He talked about his hopes to make America the better place to live. In 1996,Barack became a State Senator. In 2000,Barack decided to run for congress to represent his state.

10. On January 20, 2009 Barack Obama becomes the 44th President of the United States. He is the first Afro-American president, and one of the youngest presidents ever elected.

11. Fun Facts about Barack Obama -The name (Barack) means “Blessing from God”. -He is left-handed. -He collects comic books. -When he was a child he wanted to become a designer.
