4. Explain different Christian attitudes towards homosexuality. (6 marks) Some Christians such as Roman Catholics do not agree with homosexuality. A quote to support this is ‘Do not lie with a man as a man lies with a woman, that is detestable.’ This Old Testament quote suggests homosexuality is a sin and sexual relationships should only take place between a male and female. They view homosexuality as unnatural as it goes against God’s plan of having children. Therefore, Roman Catholics do not agree with homosexuality and because of this they teach that homosexual couples should remain celibate. Some Christians such as the Church of England argue that homosexuality is acceptable.
