2 Here are the names of some famous British writers whose portraits are exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery.

3 Here are some more names of well-known British writers : William Shakespeare Daniel Defoe Walter Scott Robert Burns Lewis Carroll Charles Dickens Oscar Wilde

4 Charles Dickens (1812-1870 ) -an English novelist. His many famous books describe life in Vicktorian England and show how hard it was, especially for the poor and for children. They include : Oliver Tvist, David Copperfield.

5 Walter Scott ( 1771-1832 ) - a Scottish writer and a poet, especially famous for his stories of Scottish life, several of them are based on historical characters, such as Ivanhoe and T he Heart of Midlothian

6 William Shakespeare (1564-1616) -an English writer of plays,one of the most famous ever. Among the most famous of his plays are the tragedies of R omeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, the comedies of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Merchant of Venice, and the historical plays R ichard ııı and H enry V. He also wrote some very good poetry, especially the Sonnets, and worked as an actor at the Globe Theatre in London.

7 Robert Burns (1759-1796) -a Scottish poet who wrote hundred of songs and poems, mainly on country life,love,and national pride

8 Daniel Defoe (1660-1731 ) - An English writer, whose most famous novels are Robinson Crusoe and Moll Flanders

9 Lewis Carroll (1832-1898) -an English writer who wrote two well-known children’s stories, A lice's Adventures in Wonderland. His real name was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson

10 Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) -an Irish writer best known for his play The Importance of Being Earnest and his story The Picture of Dorian Gray. Many of the clever and funny things he said in conversations are still fam ous

11 There are a lot of famous names in the history of Great Britain, England, Scotland, Ireland. The contribution of the great writers of these countries in world literature is difficult to overestimate. Immortal works from generation to generation passing down the wisdom of the ages combining echoes of folklore topical satire originality of imagination and a unique sense of humor- all this gave us an incredibly talented writers UK, England, Scotland, Ireland. Countless reissues and the adaptation of the works of these writers and poets could not better show the greatness and importance of the cultural contribution of these countries to world heritage of humanity.
