1 A competition to encourage Young Professionals across the globe to address a real world engineering challenge Organized by the IET Young Professionals Community Committee (YPCC) in association with international disaster relief charity, RedR UK which provides training to aid workers and agencies worldwide Participating teams have to propose solutions for a “Challenge”, which is a real-world technical problem faced by humanitarians responding to disasters Focus on technical feasibility, innovation of solution and marketing skills Professional Home for Life for Engineers and Technicians

2 Professional Home for Life for Engineers and Technicians Age 18-35 (both inclusive) 3 - 4 members in a team There may be 1 non-IET member per team, other team members must be members of the IET Team Formation Technical feasibility Efficiency Innovation Commercial viability Quality of submissions Judging criteria October 19 Nov 20 March 1 May 20 July 1 October November Promotion commences Official Launch at Innovation Awards Deadline for registration and 1 st round submission Announce 4 teams for 2 nd Round Deadline for 2 nd Round submission Announce winners Awards Ceremony at Innovation Awards 2015 in London 2014 2015

3 Professional Home for Life for Engineers and Technicians Registration Send completed registration form and 1 st round submission to globalchallenge@theiet.orgglobalchallenge@theiet.org 1st Round Each team to submit a proposal using the provided template and highlight how the solution fits the purpose 4 teams with highest scores from 1st Round will join 2 nd Round 2 nd Round Using the templates provided, each of the 4 teams to submit: 1) A detailed project report - with feasibility report, technical description, marketing strategy etc. 2) A powerpoint presentation (10 slides max) – a summary of the detailed project report 3) A filmed elevator pitch (3 min max) – highlight the features of the proposal; this will be uploaded to IET.tv for peer voting Result Winners will be contacted, runners up will receive their prizes and the winning team will receive invites to the awards ceremony Awards presentation at Innovation Awards 2015! The winning solution will be aired and the team will receive their prizes Competition Format

4 Professional Home for Life for Engineers and Technicians Prizes Winner 250 GBP for each team member An all-expenses paid trip to attend the prestigious Innovation Awards 2015 ceremony in London to receive the award and watch their solution being aired to the assembled audience A trophy & certificate for each team member 1 st Runner-up 200 GBP and a certificate for each team member 2 nd Runner-up 150 GBP and a certificate for each team member 3 rd Runner-up 100 GBP and a certificate for each team member
