Theme: Suicide and Depression We chose suicide and depression for our theme because you see it a lot in the play Romeo and Juliet.

Theme exists in Romeo and Juliet Some quotes that prove suicide and depression exists in Romeo and Juliet: “ay me, sad hours seem long for juliet” -Romeo This quote is say that since he cant see Juliet the sad hours seem longer than they really are. “my name dear saint hateful to myself because it is an enemy to thee” –Romeo

Theme exist in Romeo and Juliet cont. “but come what sorrow can it, cannot countervail the exchange of joy that one short minute gives me in her sight” –Romeo This quote is saying that the sorrow he feels cannot beet the feelings he would get with seeing Juliet for one short minute.

Research topic: Teenage Violence Does suicide and depression link with Teenage Violence in Romeo and Juliet? We did research on Teenage Violence because we felt like it linked with suicide and depression in the current world. Example: a boy being bullied over and over is likely to form some kind of depression and might form thought of suicide.

Research on Teenage Violence In the public mind, acts of teenage violence are most commonly associated with boys ; the report says, but ;it is clear that the problem is pervasive among girls as well. This paragraph we found from SIRs is saying that most people think most teenage violence is associated with girls it actually is most associated with boys.

Research cont. Clearly the specter of violence--like gang activity and bullying- -haunts worrisome numbers of Oklahoma adolescents, if 19 percent have felt the need to carry a weapon. Also disturbing was the number of high-school teens--more than 7 percent-- who reported in the survey that they had been hit, slapped, or physically hurt on purpose within the past year by a boyfriend or girlfriend. This paragraph is mainly saying that adolescents in Oklahoma feel worried and 19 percent feel the need to carry a weapon because of gang activity and bullying. Also more than 7 percent of high school teens reported in the survey that they have been hit, or slapped by their boyfriend or girlfriend on purpose.

Research cont. Some people have said that teaching young people early the warning signs of an abusive relationship--and the tools to develop safe ones--will help set the course for healthy relationships in the future. This paragraph from SIRs is explaining how Some say that teaching young kids about sings of a abusive relationship will prepare them for later in life relationships.

Research cont. The mental health association provides many programs in Tulsa area school to help teen with their problems. problems like depression, substance abuse, violence and suicide. one of those programs called TeenScreen helps teens with issues involving depression, anxiety, suicide, substance abuse and violence at an early stage. These programs seem to help teens in Tulsa very much and catch the problem before it gets bigger.

Research linked to Romeo and Juliet Our research topic links with the play Romeo and Juliet. In the play the Capulet's and Montague's don’t like each other. The two families don’t get along and are involved in many fights are arguments through out the play.

Quotes that link The play and research topic together “which way ran he that killed Mercutio? Tybalt, that murderer, which way he ran?” -Citizen In this quote from a citizen it is mainly asking were did the man run that killed Mercutio and were did Tybalt run. It is saying that a murder happened. And that is a way of teenage violence.

cont. This cover of the Romeo and Juliet movie shows violence. You can tell there is going to be some violence in this movie because there is two different families on two different sides showing that they are competing against each other and don’t like each other. Also you can tell by looking at the two families and see what they are pointing at each other, their weapons. So its obvious that there is a battle between two families in this play.

Teenage Violence in American teenagers today Today in schools there are a lot of kids being bullied and being mean to each other. In our research we found a lot of articles on kids being bullied to the point were they either fight back or become depressed and even suicidal.

American teenagers today cont. We even found an article were it explains that in some states there is so much violence related to gang activities that some people are worried to the point were they bring weapons to school. That brings us to the problem of teenagers bringing weapons to school and being suspended or expelled.

American teenagers today cont. All the school shootings and mass shootings that has been going on is also a form of violence in the world today.
