2 NORDPLUS The Nordic Council of Ministers’ programme activating collaboration between universities and institutions of higher education in the Nordic and Baltic countries Support for networks, which apply for Nordplus funding

3 NORDPLUS GERONTOLOGY Network was launched in 1999 Initially five partners from three Nordic countries Currently 10 partner institutions from Finland, Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Estonia

9 NORDPLUS-GERONTOLOGY Activities Exchange of teachers One week or the minimum of 8 hours of teaching Exchange of students Express mobility (min. 1 week) 1-4 months Joint study programme NordMaG Intensive courses (course week + assignments + web environment)

10 AIMS To encourage and activate student and teacher mobility by Increasing the availability of the courses in gerontology (in English) Effective sharing of information on the network activities Ensuring the development of the Nordic Master Degree Programme in Gerontology (NordMaG) run by three Network Universities (Icelan, Jyväskylä, Lund) 120 ECTS, taught in English Launched in 2008

11 Fostering higher education in gerontology in Nordic and Baltic countries Challenges in educational activities to analyse the contents and core elements of degrees from national and international viewpoint to facilitate higher academic achievement in the study abroad system to increase virtual mobility to design top quality international degree programmes and modules taught in English and other foreign languages to deliver master’s and doctoral programmes through international networks
