Joseph from Slave to deputy Pharaoh

Has life gone how you hoped?

Today we are going to learn how a person of faith not only survives, but thrives in hardship.

It is the same today: Children are supersensitive to differences between how they perceive they are treated compared to their brothers and sisters.

Does disappointment justify disobedience?

Is it ever a good idea to use one child as a spy on another child?

Ephesians 4:26 (NIV) 26 “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry

If God has given you gifts, don’t use your gifts to develop and communicate a superior attitude toward others.

Can you think of a time in your life when something horrible happened, that it was only much later that you saw God’s plan and grace in it.

No circumstance is out of the providence of God.

Nothing can thwart God from getting His will done.

Genesis 39:6 (NIV) Now Joseph was well-built and handsome

Genesis 39:5 (NIV) 5 From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the L ORD blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the L ORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field.

Is there anything you are doing now in your life that is putting in jeopardy the blessing that God has bestowed upon you?

1 Timothy 3:2 (NIV) 2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self- controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach

Genesis 39:12 (NIV) 12 She caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

The number one mistake we make with temptation is trying to reason with it. The second is that we try and justify it.

Joseph fled, and it cost him. It cost him his job and his position

She grabbed his cloak, and then used it as false proof against him.

Genesis 39:21–22 (NIV) 21 the L ORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. 22 So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there.

Doing the right thing does not always result in earthly reward.

When it comes to guarding your integrity, you are you best, and sometimes only ally when the difficult seasons of life come.

Job 2:9 (NIV) 9 His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!”

A person of faith must never loose faith that all of life is in God’s control.

No circumstance can thwart God’s Will.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV) 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Does faithfulness to God mean we’ll never suffer wrongly from the schemes of the wicked on this earth?

We will not let anyone steal our integrity. And we will not give it away regardless of the circumstances we face.

Can you trust God is in charge regardless of the circumstances and challenges we face?
