2011 MediLinks Enhancements for Respiratory Focused on Efficiency!

New Features – SP3 Per Day Billing Exclusions Problem: MediLinks has filters for Max per day and Max per stay that automatically limit billing for a single charge code. Billing restrictions for multiple charge codes such as initial and subsequent ventilator day require a manual deletion process. Deletions result in falsely lowered productivity reporting. Solution: The ability to filter mutually exclusive charges MediLinks can now be configured to filter a charge that is not billable on the same day as another charge, eliminating the need for manual deletions. Time associated with productivity is captured, while the mutually exclusive charge is excluded from the daily billing. Accomplished through a one time dictionary configuration of the charge code.

New Features – SP3 Editable Charting Problem: Once a branch is completed, charting within the template cannot be edited. To make changes in a completed branch you must exit the charting session and start over. Solution: Editable Charting Simply double click on the template charting and re-launch the branching logic to make corrections. This includes capturing new: Observations, Charges and Orders!

New Features – SP3 Discontinue Orders in Branching Logic Problem: Branching logic is able to drive protocol decision-making. The decision to discontinue an order has already been reached through branching logic but extra steps are required to actually discontinue orders. Solution: Order is automatically discontinued based on documentation. This feature will support Therapist Driven Protocols by automatically discontinuing therapy no longer indicated by protocol. New orders that are appropriate “next steps” can be created using the Force Order Entry option. Completes the cycle of managing Therapist Driven Protocols with MediLinks !

New Features – SP3 Charge codes can be configured for the appropriate DPN based on the work area, such as Neonatal, Pediatrics and Adult. Ventilator charges and ventilator days can be broken out by patient type. Easily accommodates multiple cost centers and provides detailed reports for budgeting. Filter Charges Generated by Work Area Problem: Budgeting and Reporting for Multiple Cost Centers requires separate Charge Codes. Separate templates or additional branches are needed to generate unique charges for the same procedure. Solution: Recognize the correct charge based on the patient’s work area

New Features – SP3 Order and Charge Designation Problem: Both Charges and Orders are displayed in drop down menus. Solution: Designate it…order, charge or both The following list will now filter the view for a desired list of orders or charges: Create Order (Orders Tab) Create Charge ( Charge Tab) DC Order (Branching Logic) New Order (Treatment Screen) Add New (Orders Management)

New Features – SP3 Flowsheet Narrative Charting Problem: A discrete outbound interface is required to send flow sheets to the EMR. Solution: Flowsheet Narrative Charting MediLinks now creates narrative flow sheet document for the charting record, which can be sent outbound like regular charting. This allows Flowsheet charting to smoothly cross into your EMR as a narrative text document.

New Features – SP3 View Flowsheets While Charting Problem: The PIP provides limited viewing to flowsheets. Solution: Expand Button Expand and view a Flowsheet from the Patient Information Panel (PIP). This brings the full flowsheet view to you without ever having to leave your charting session.

New Features – SP3 Charting Toggle Between Patients Problem: Charting records are only accessible one at a time. Solution: Toggle between multiple patients Access your interrupted charting from the current charting record… Enabling you to chart on multiple patients at one time.

New Features – SP3 Saving your Charting Problem: The unexpected power loss or glitches in hospital internet service can result in the loss of the entire note. Solution: Auto Save & Save and Continue MediLinks auto saves your charting every 5 minutes while you are actively charting. Click on the Save and Continue button any time your are charting.

New Features – SP3 Enhanced Integration with Bridge-Tech Increase efficiency and accuracy with automated charge capture and task reconciliation using Observations from any inbound device including Bridgetech  Automatically Create Charges Ventilator charges are generated from automated ventilator checks.  Reconcile Tasks on the Treatment Screen Tasks on the treatment screen decrement automatically.

New Features – SP4 N Time Orders Problem: MediLinks over-calculates tasks and time allocation for some orders. For example, every 30 minutes times 3. Solution: The ability, when creating an order, to specify the number of times an order will need to be documented on to complete that order Orders will expire at end date and time, or orders will complete when all tasks are documented.

New Features – SP4 PRN Orders Problem: PRN orders inflate the workload in the Worklist Generator, or do not provide enough tasks on the treatment screen if more than one treatment is given. Solution: The ability to create a PRN frequency with or without intervals. Pure PRN has unlimited tasks and no scheduled time or calculated time for a task. Orders can be configured as “reminders” and do not require that a task be associated with it.

New Features – SP4 Worklist Generator Enhancements Problem: Some therapist work 12 hour shifts and some work 8 hour shifts. Solution: The ability to assign work at the task level. Allows shifts and partial shifts to be assigned. Supports assigning overlapping shifts for 8 hours on Monday thru Friday and 12 hours on the weekends. Additional Worklist Enhancements: Edit more than just the last saved Worklist. Edited Worklist reflects changes in patients and patient orders. Pop up boxes for adding or deleting therapists.

New Features – SP4 Worklist Generator Redesigned  New view of practitioner assignments and shift workload. Drag a work area to a practitioner  Ability to add orders within the worklist generator.  Auto-assign new orders that were created while the worklist is being produced  Ability to link orders and modify performance time

New Features – SP4 Treatment Screen Enhancements  Pharmacy verification treatment screen indicator. Notifies therapist when pharmacy has verified medication.  Verbal order approval treatment screen reminder. Notifies therapist that verbal order requires a signature and updates to indicate the order has been signed.  Slide task to the next shift or next day. Requires user rights.  Multi-select and re-assign tasks from the treatment screen.

New Features – SP4 More Treatment Screen Enhancements  New orders not yet charted will have the ability to add a “now” task.  Ability to view charting without leaving the treatment screen.  Interrupted charting will be viewable on the treatment screen as an indicator.  “My Preferences” replaces “Change View” and allows users to choose viewable treatment screen parameters.

New Features – SP4 More SP4 for Respiratory  Ability to send eMAR record and view in the PIP. Allows therapist to match eMAR administration time to that in MediLinks  Order Occurrence Interface. Host sends child tasks to MediLinks at set intervals. Task completed message is sent to host as orders are documented.

2011 An exciting year for MediServe Respiratory Clients!  SP3 Per day billing exclusion Filter charges by work area Complete the cycle that drives protocols  SP4 N Time and PRN order management Redesigned worklist generator Treatment screen enhancements Additional interface options
