3 Analysis of Scientific Discourse two main repertoires empiricist and contingent each predominates in certain contexts leads to explorations of scientific culture

4 Activities this evening examine Crichton’s (pronunciation) text: the “Author’s Message” in particular make any observations you like about the argument, the good sense he displays (or otherwise) try some ASD

5 Activities this evening examine how he seems to know things examine how he accounts for the beliefs of others and how their attributes are presented note how evidence is displayed note the main categories of actors he invokes (like Al Gore’s “friends”) note how/whether he avoids contradictions Is it a successful discourse in its own terms?
