He never gave up his dream of helping his family and his village. 3 “This is it!” shouted William Kamkwamba while he was looking through some garbage. “This is what I need! I’ve been looking for this.” With a big smile, he took an old fan from a pile of garbage. “I already have a bicycle and a car battery. 4 William was born on August 5, 1987, in Malawi, Africa. He was the second of seven children in a poor family. His village was so poor that it did not even have electricity.
