3 EX. 1: He reads the newspaper every morning.

4 Ex. 2: I go to school every day

5 Ex. 3: Water boils at 100 C˚

6 Remember! Verb to be – (ser, estar) I am, You are, He is, She is, It is, We are, You are, They are

7 Ex. 4: They are at home

8 Ex. 5: We are Students

9 Ordinary Verbs You just have to worry with the third person singular. We add “s”

10 Ex. 6: She Likes Apples

11 When the ordinary verbs end in: o, x, z, s, ss, ch We add “es”

12 Ex. 7: She goes to school every day (verb to go)

13 Verbs ending in consonant + y You substitute for ies

14 Ex. 8: She studies math

15 Simple Past Regular verbs –Add “ed” Verbs ending with consonant + y – We can substitute the “y” for “ied”

16 Simple past This verb tense is used to express actions that finished in a definite time in the past. We use adverbs like: yesterday, last year, last week, ago…

17 Ex. 9: He climbed a mountain yesterday

18 Ex. 10: He cleaned the house last week

19 Active and passive voice Active: Somebody cleans the office

20 Passive Passive: The office is cleaned (by somebody) (It emphasizes the action)

21 The Passive is: Present simple (am, is are) + Past Participle Or… Past simple (was/were) + Past Participle

22 Ex. 13: She opened the door. (Active voice)

23 Ex. 14: The door was opened. (passive voice)
