6. CONFLICT NOTES Conflict: The main problem in a story Internal Conflict – a struggle that takes place in a character’s mind (person vs. self). Ex: You know there is a test tomorrow. Should you go to the movies with friends or take the time to study for your test?? External Conflict – a struggle between a character and an outside force (person vs. world, person vs. person, etc.). Ex: Woody and Buzz Lightyear do not get along at the beginning of Toy Story and attempt to sabotage one another.
