2 About me and IED About me: my name is Justin D’Andrea and I am a 10 th grade student attending the doshi STEM institute. This is my second year in this school. About class: introduction of engineering design, or IED, is an entry level engineering class offered in the doshi STEM institute. The class allows us to learn, build, and solve problems the way an engineer would in real life.

4 Unit 1- sketching warm up  In this assignment, we had to pick from a list of objects to draw and draw said object  I learned how to draw and shade realistically  To improve this assignment, I could have made the size of the objects smaller or larger based on their size in real life

5 Unit 1- 1.7 what is this?  In this assignment, we were given a picture of an unknown object and we had to guess its function in daily life  I learned how to think out of the box when solving problems  I could have improved by being slightly more realistic when determining the objects function

6 Unit 1- 1.9 design innovation  In this assignment, me and me group were given an item, bullet proof glass, and we made suggestions as to how to improve the item  I learned different ways to improve an already created project  To improve on this assignment, we could go in depth with the improvements and find the most to least costly ways to improve the product

7 Unit 2- isometric sketching  In this assignment, we were asked to draw different shapes using isometric sketching  I learned how to use isometric sketching to draw objects  To improve this project, we could’ve drawn objects around us using isometric sketching

8 Unit 2- perspective sketching  In this assignment, we were asked to draw objects using perspective sketching. We used both one point perspective and multiple point perspective  In this assignment, I learned how to draw using one point and multiple point perspective drawing  We could have improved this project by drawing nearby objects using perspective sketching

9 Unit 2- Multiview sketching  In this project, we were given a unique shape. We were then asked to draw each side of the shape on the grid paper. We then cut the paper and glued it as if we were looking at the front of the cube  I learned how to draw in multiple views in this project  To improve this project, we could’ve used a more complicated shape to draw using Multiview.

10 Unit 3- unit conversions  In this assignment, we received a paper which shows us how to convert measurements to different measurement systems  I learned how to change between metric and US measurements in this project  Honestly there's nothing to improve on in this project

11 Unit 3- dial caliper  In this assignment, we used a dial caliper to make extremely accurate measurements  I learned how to use a dial caliper  To improve this project, we could’ve measured difficult items to measure
