2 1. What is another way to write – ( – 7). 2. Write a statement that describes. 3.Jill is a diver. She uses positive numbers to represent elevations above the water’s surface and negative numbers to represent elevations below the water’s surface. Jill is standing on a springboard. She represents her location as 4 meters. She lets a ring drop to the bottom of the pool. She represents its location at the bottom of the pool as – 5 meters. If Jill dives into the pool from the springboard, how many meters will she fall vertically before she reaches the water’s surface? How many meters below the surface of the water is the ring? 4.A football coach recorded the results of his team’s first 4 plays in its last game. The table below shows his data. During which play did the team lose the fewest yards? During which play did the team gain the most yards? If the team started these plays at the 20 yard line, where on the field was the team located after the 4 th play? 5. Rename each rational in the form a/b with b≠0 (a) – 5 (b) 0.32 (c) 26% (d) – Play 1Play 2Play 3Play 4 # of Yards9– 52– 2

3 1. What is another way to write – ( – 7). 2. Write a statement that describes. – ( – 7) = 7. The opposite of the opposite of 7 is 7. The distance from – 52 to 0 on a number line. The absolute value of -52 is 52.

4 3.Jill is a diver. Write an integer to represent the total distance Jill dives to get to the ring. Jill will fall 4 meters before reaching the water’s surface. The ring is 5 meters below the surface of the water. – 9
