1 SUB-KINGDOM ARCHAEBACTERIA ( “Ancient Bacteria”)
ARCHAEBACTERIAL FACTS: Single celled (unicellular) Prokaryotic organisms Domain: Archae Kingdom: Monera Has a cell wall but it is NOT made of Peptidoglycan Obtain nutrition through absorption and chemosynthesis Live in an extreme environment without oxygen. Navigate by the use of one or more flagella Reproduce asexually through binary fission

2 SUB-KINGDOM EUBACTERIA (“Modern-Day True Bacteria”)
EUBACTERIAL FACTS: Single celled (unicellular) Prokaryotic organisms Domain: Bacteria Kingdom: Monera Has a cell wall made of peptidoglycan Obtain nutrition through photosynthesis and chemosynthesis - some forms are heterotrophs Live in common day to day environments such as land, water and air along with living in and on organisms. Some navigate using flagella, some emit a slime to glide across their environmental surface Reproduce asexually through binary fission Reproduce asexually and some sexually. There are 3 basic shapes of bacteria: Spiral shaped (Spirallis) Rod shaped (Bacilli) Spherical shaped (Cocci)  Bacteria can group themselves in Chains ( Strepto), Clusters (Staphlo) and Pairs (Diplo)

3 KINGDOM PROTISTA (“Protists”)
PROTISTS FACTS: Most are unicellular and some are multicellular Domain: Eukarya Made of Eukaryotic cells Cell structure(s): Some have a cell wall and some have a cell membrane Some obtain nutrition through photosynthesis and some obtain nutrition as heterotrophs. Reproduction asexually and sexually Move with the help of cilia, flagella and pseudopods Found mainly in freshwater environments (pond water)

4 KINGDOM FUNGI (“Fungus”)
FUNGUS FACTS: They are multicellular Eukaryotic organisms Domain: Eukarya Cell wall made of Chitin (complex carbohydrate) Fungi’s role in the environment is that they are decomposers in which they obtain their nutrition by breaking down dead organisms and absorbing nutrients. Reproduction both asexually and sexually Fungi are basically static. But can spread either by forming reproductive spores that are carried on wind and rain.

5 KINGDOM PLANTAE (“Plants”)
PLANT FACTS: They are multicellular Eukaryotic organisms Domain: Eukarya Cell wall made of Cellulose (complex carbohydrate) They obtain their nutrition by carrying out photosynthesis They are sessile (means they don’t move) Some reproduce sexually and some asexually

6 KINGDOM ANIMALIA (“Animals”)
ANIMAL FACTS: They are multicellular Eukaryotic organisms Domain: Eukarya No cell wall only a cell membrane They are heterotrophic – means they obtain nutrition from the things they eat. They are mobile by different ways: wings, fins, limbs etc. Reproduce sexually (egg and sperm) Some roles they play in the environment: * predator * consumer * reproducers * pollinators
