3 What Do We Believe? “We believe… “…middle school educators should have a passion for working with young adolescents.” “…all young adolescents have the ability to meet high expectations when provided the necessary resources to succeed.” “…all young adolescents deserve an adult who relentlessly advocates on their behalf.”

4 Vision “Painted Hills Middle School will be an exemplary middle school that provides rigorous educational programs in a safe environment that embraces diversity and cultivates a culture of collaboration among all stakeholders—resulting in well rounded young adolescents who are ready for high school.”

5 Mission “Painted Hills Middle School will prepare our young adolescent students for high school by equipping them with the necessary social and academic skills needed to succeed in high school.”

6 Goals to Drive Mission Standard of Excellence—we will implement with fidelity the tenets of “Schools to Watch” in order to qualify as a high performing middle school—Academic Excellence, Developmental Responsiveness, Organizational Structure & Processes, and Social Equity. Safety—we will create a safe and responsive school setting in which students will be able to thrive. Achievement—we will strive to meet and exceed the state and federal performance targets in AYP and API. Instruction—we will provide best-first instruction and enrichment to all students and expect nothing less than excellence from our students and ourselves. Intervention—we will provide timely response to students in need with an impactful Pyramid Response to Interventions. Collaboration—we will work collaboratively as stakeholders (parents, educators, students) to meet the needs of students as they strive for excellence and evolve as young adolescents.

7 Structure Traditional Calendar 7:45-1:50 (except Monday’s—8:15-1:50) 2-Lunches (1-6 th & 1-7 th /8 th ) All students receive a free breakfast ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, Elective, PE Bussing for qualifying students per PSUSD guidelines Interdisciplinary Teams All courses are year long—trimester report cards
