5. Why Linked Learning? A high school diploma is no longer enough for our current students to be competitive in the global marketplace. Today, a child who graduates from school in a Linked Learning Pathway will have: a mastery of 21st Century Skills a broad work-based knowledge ability to compete in the global marketplace and numerous paths of opportunity available to lead a successful life

6. Linked Learning is: An approach that seeks to prepare students for both college & career –by connecting learning in the classroom with real world applications in the workplace. As opposed to the Vocational Education programs of the past, Linked Learning requires –college prep academic core classes –along with Career Technical Education –and work based learning that meets industry standards.

7. Linked Learning is: A fusion of academics and Career Technical Education. Cross-curricular collaboration for the creation of performance tasks (projects) at each level for 9, 10, 11 and 12.

8. Linked Learning : All high schools in the district are in various stages of creating the subject pathways in Linked Learning. At Chino High School, we are implementing –Law, Justice and Public Service –Food Service and Hospitality

13. a)Cal Poly Educational Talent Search Cal Poly students and directors are available Monday through Friday. Qualified students (1st generation college-bound) have access to all services –Summer program at Cal Poly for 1 week –Help with obtaining financial Aid

14. b) Homework Club Available 2 days per week Open to all students in need of tutoring College students help with homework and study skills

15. c) Guidance Counselors Provide Academic, College, and Career Guidance Assist students with their post-secondary plan Assist Academy Parent and Advisory meetings Provide College and Financial Aid presentations Assist students with career exploration Personal and Academic counseling, referrals for support and student success Coordinate Student Recognition Programs Assist in coordinating classroom presentations, field trips, and outreach Assist with Job Shadow and Internship opportunities
